Treating Tendonitis

Usually tendonitis is caused by the recurring loading of a tendon when it exceeds the ability of the tendon to handle the load that has been put on to it. This act can breakdown the normal tissue which will result in swelling, pain and reduce the functional ability of the joint that is associated with the tendon.

Some of the common causes of tendonitis includes muscle imbalance, excessive increase in the training load and speed, using improper techniques, use of inappropriate equipment, imbalanced training surfaces etc.

When treating tendonitis, the first step is to identify the cause with a detailed history of the athlete or person suffering from it. The initial phase will be to get the inflammation under control. Rest, ice and anti-inflammatory medicines are the main treatment protocols. One of the latest techniques for healing damaged tendons is the micro therapy unit which reduces the healing time and rapidly reduces inflammation. This method is also known to be convenient and cost effective while it’s simple to use at any given time and place.
